Food & Nutrition Services

Jeffco Public Schools' Food and Nutrition Department employs approximately 600 full and part-time employees, who prepare over 6 million meals a year. Food and Nutrition Services is self-supporting; no General Fund monies are utilized to support these operations. The district participates in the USDA School Lunch, Breakfast, and commodity food programs.

PROVIDING HEALTHY MEALS AT SCHOOLS

The Healthy Hunger Free Kids Act of 2010 brought new regulations to the National School Lunch Program aimed at helping to decrease the incidence of Childhood Obesity in our country. As a result of these changes students will be offered meals that offer:

  • More fruits and vegetables

  • Meals with fewer calories, less fat and less sodium

  • Leaner proteins, with more meat-free alternatives

  • Right-sized portions of more satisfying foods

  • More whole-grain options

School Breakfast Program

Many schools in Jeffco participate in the School Breakfast Program, offering a nutritious breakfast every day that school is in session. Students eligible for free or reduced price lunch will receive breakfast at no charge. Read the following flyer to learn more about the program and participating schools:

Smart Snacks in Schools

Working for Jeffco Food and Nutrition Services is the perfect part-time job. Work 2 to 5 hours per day for the school lunch program while your children are in school.
