Meal Prices and Charging

Thanks to the passage of Healthy School Meals for All (HSMA) in November 2022, all students will eat at no cost, regardless of their income eligibility starting the 2023-24 school year. A la carte items will be available for purchase, and money can be added to student accounts using School Café.

Despite meals being served at no cost for all students, beginning July 1, we recommend that all interested families need to complete a Meal Benefits Application on School Café. Completing this form is one of the ways to be considered eligible for other potential benefits the district may offer (i.e. fee waivers). Please complete the form on July 1 or after.

To complete a Meal Benefits Application, log in to School Café or set up a new School Café account (you will need an account and may not complete a form as a "Guest").

While online forms are preferred, paper forms will also be available starting July 1 at the Food & Nutrition Services office located at 809 Quail St., Building 1, Lakewood, during the week, Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.. Please contact your student's school as they will be available there, too.

Families who are enrolled in SNAP, TANF, Medicaid, the Migrant Education Program, or other qualifying assistance program might be directly certified for free meals in Jeffco. This information is automatically transferred to Jeffco Public Schools for school meal eligibility.

Additional meals may be purchased by a student, for a cost. Students may use cash, or money that has been added to their School Café account. Contact Katie Jeter, Director of Resources, Food & Nutrition Services at 303-982-6879 with questions about applications.

Each student is eligible to receive one free breakfast (where breakfast is served) and one free lunch, additional meals will cost the following:

Elementary Breakfast:	See a la carte pricing
Secondary Breakfast:	See a la carte pricing

Elementary Lunch:	$5.00
Secondary Lunch:	$5.00
Adult Lunch (beverage not included):	$5.00

We all know that hungry children have a more difficult time doing their best work in the classroom. That’s why Jeffco Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) wants to encourage all students to begin their school day with a nutritious, great-tasting breakfast.

School breakfast makes good sense – it provides ¼ of your child’s nutritional needs, meets Dietary Guidelines recommendations, and offers children a chance to eat breakfast with their friends. It’s very affordable and many students, possibly yours, already qualify for free breakfast meals.
